Objective:
To schedule a system reboot automatically at a specific date and time using the EM console's automation module.
This use case is related to automatically rebooting a device at a specific time using the automation feature in the EM console. Once the reboot job is created with a specified date and time, the system will consistently reboot every time as per the defined schedule—without any manual intervention. This helps in automating routine reboots as part of maintenance or compliance activities.
Steps to Schedule an Automatic Reboot:
Navigate to the EM Console:
Go to EM > Actions > System
Create a Reboot Automation:
In the "Create Response" section:
Operating System Family: Select
Windows or any OS
Action: Select
Reboot
Response Name: Provide a response name
Response Description: You may enter a similar description
Message: Enter a custom message, e.g.,
Scheduled_Automatic reboot
Time in Minutes: Set to
0
(to execute immediately after the scheduled time)
Select Target Devices:
Under the Target section, select the appropriate devices
Set the Schedule:
Choose how often to run the reboot:
Example: Select
Weekly
Set to run every
1st
week onMonday
Define the Start and End Time, e.g.,
02:00 PM - 02:30 PM
Create the Response:
Click on Create Response to finalise and schedule the automated reboot.
