Overview

Saner CVEM provides multiple methods to initiate a device reboot. This article describes the various options available for scheduling and executing a reboot through the Saner CVEM platform.

Methods to Initiate a Reboot

1. Reboot via Endpoint Management (EM)

  1. Navigate to Endpoint Management (EM)Actions.

  2. From the dropdown menu, select Reboot.

  3. Configure the reboot task as per your preferred schedule.

Scheduling a Reboot Task

  • A reboot can be scheduled to occur after a specific time interval, with a default setting of one hour.

  • The interval can be modified according to customer requirements.

  • A pop-up notification is displayed before the reboot, based on the configured duration in minutes.

  • The second notification pop-up can also be retriggered at set intervals as per configuration.

  • Once the set time elapses, the system initiates a mandatory reboot.

Postponing a Scheduled Reboot

  • Users can postpone the reboot beyond the designated timeframe by specifying additional minutes for postponement.

  • After the extended delay, the device performs a mandatory reboot.

Note: The “Time in minutes” field is used to delay the reboot after the scheduled end time. If the Immediate option is selected, the reboot will occur after the minutes specified in this field.

2. Reboot via Patch Management (PM)

  1. Navigate to Patch Management (PM)Status.

  2. Select the required device.

  3. Initiate a Reboot task from the available options.

3. Reboot via Compliance Management (CM)

  1. Navigate to Compliance Management (CM)Status.

  2. Select the specific device for which a remediation task has already been created.

  3. Trigger the Reboot action.

4. Reboot on macOS Devices

  • The reboot process for macOS devices follows the same steps as Windows devices.

  • macOS devices receive a total of three pop-up notifications before a mandatory reboot occurs.

  • The reboot can also be scheduled with an additional delay using the Time in minutes option.

Conclusion

Saner CVEM provides flexible options to initiate and manage device reboots through Endpoint Management (EM), Patch Management (PM), and Compliance Management (CM). These features allow administrators to schedule, notify, and control device restarts efficiently, ensuring minimal disruption and effective system management.
