Objective
This article provides step-by-step instructions on how to set or update the hostname of a device using the Saner CVEM Console.
Prerequisites
You must have appropriate permissions to access and use the Endpoint Management module in the Saner CVEM console.
Target devices should be online and reachable.
Steps to Set Hostname
Log in to the Saner CVEM console.
Navigate to the Endpoint Management module from the main dashboard.
Click on the Action tab.
Click on the System icon under the list of available actions.
A configuration window will appear. Provide the following details:
Operating System Family: Select the appropriate OS family from the dropdown.
Under the Action dropdown, select Set Host Name.
Specify the following:
Host Name: Enter the new hostname you want to set.
Response Name*: Provide a unique name for the response.
Response Description*: Optionally, provide a brief description for the response.
Select the target device(s) on which you want to apply the hostname change.
Click on Create Response to initiate the action.
Result
The specified hostname will be updated on the selected device(s). You can track the status of the response under the Responses section in the console.
Additional Information
Ensure the hostname follows your organization’s naming conventions.
Changes may require a reboot to take full effect, depending on the OS.
