Objective
This article explains how to modify entries in the Windows hosts file using SanerCVEM.
Why: Controlling domain-to-IP mappings locally allows administrators to override DNS resolution, block/unblock sites, or ensure specific traffic routing without affecting the network.
Steps to Modify Hosts File Entry
Login – Access SanerCVEM portal.
Create Response – EM → Actions → Network.
Configure – Name (e.g.,
modifyhosts
) and description.Select Action – Modify Hosts File Entry.
Enter Details – IP, hostname, and action (Add/Modify/Remove).
Select Device(s) – Search and choose target Windows device(s).
Execute – Save and run.
Before making any changes

Verification
On Windows Device
Open hosts file (
C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts
) in Notepad as administrator.Confirm the IP-hostname entry is updated.
