Understanding Device Location Mapping in the Dashboard

When reviewing the saner one dashboard, you may notice map details displaying device locations. However, these locations may not always reflect the exact physical location of a device. This article explains how device mapping works and how you can view the associated device list for better clarity.

How Device Location is Determined

  • The agent installed on each device continuously captures:

    • The device’s local time

    • The device’s time zone

  • This information is transmitted to the server.

  • The dashboard interprets the mapped time zone to estimate and display the device’s location on the map.


Important: The displayed map location is based on the configured time zone of the device, not its actual physical location.


Identifying Devices from the Map

You can use the CSV export option to access the full device list.

Steps to Download Device List:

  1. Navigate to the relevant dashboard section.

  2. Locate and click on the CSV download option.

  3. Open the exported file to view the complete list of devices, including the time zone and related details.


This allows you to correlate devices shown on the map with their actual entries in the device list.
