Remove Programs/Applications from Startup

Purpose


There are scenarios where certain startup applications or background services negatively impact system performance. Monitoring and managing the programs that automatically launch during system boot is essential for maintaining optimal device performance.

One common area to investigate is the list of startup applications.


Solution


Using the Endpoint Management (EM) module in SanerNow CVEM, you can easily manage and remove unwanted startup applications to improve system responsiveness.

The following steps illustrate how to remove a program from the startup list:


Steps to Remove Applications from Startup

  1. Navigate to the Endpoint Management Module

    • Go to the EM module in the SanerNow console.

    • Click on Actions.

  2. Access Startup Programs

    • Select the Startup Programs option.
      (Refer to the screenshot below)

  3. Configure the Removal Action

    • For example, to remove Skype for Desktop from the startup list:

      • In the Action dropdown, select Remove programs from startup.

      • Choose the application to be removed from the displayed list.

      • Add a suitable Response Name and Response Description.

  4. Track Task Execution

    • Once the task is created, navigate to the Task Status section to monitor the progress.
      (Refer to the screenshot below)

  5. Verify the Outcome on the Device

    • A Success status indicates the program has been successfully removed from the startup list.

    • You may also verify the changes directly on the device.
