Understanding Proxy Concepts and SecPod SanerNow's Functionality in the Presence of Enabled Proxy

Modified on Sun, 16 Mar at 7:41 PM

How Does a Proxy Server Work?

  • A proxy is like a middleman between you and a website.
  • When you want to visit a site, your request first goes to the proxy.
  • The proxy then passes your request to the website and brings back the website's response to you.
  • It's like the proxy is fetching things for you and bringing them back.

Security Features:

  • Proxies can act like guards, making sure nothing harmful gets through to your computer when you're browsing.
  • They can also help keep your information safe by encrypting it.

Anonymity:

  • Using a proxy can make it a bit harder for websites to know exactly who you are by hiding your IP address.
  • It's like wearing a mask at a masquerade ball – you're there, but people can't see your face.

How to setup a proxy in the SanerNow Console and also on the end device:

  1. Log in to saner.secpod.com.
  2. Click on the control panel at the top right.
  3. In the left pane, select "Agent Configuration."
  4. Click on "Create Settings."

After entering the necessary details and clicking on "Create," the configured settings will be applied to the devices within that group. All communication will then occur through the designated proxy IP.

Alternatively, you can manually configure the settings on the device by following these steps:

  1. Navigate to the following path: C:\Program Files (x86)\SecPod Saner\conf.
  2. Open the "settings.ini" file located at that path.
  3. Enter the necessary details such as the proxy address, port number, etc. Refer to the screenshot below for guidance.
