Why is a specific driver not available as a patch in saner CVEM, and how should driver-related vulnerabilities be handled?

Modified on Fri, 26 Sep at 1:06 PM

We would like to clarify that the item in question is a driver, not a patch or software update. As such, it is not available directly through saner CVEM.

Driver Installation Guidance:

  • Drivers are typically developed, released, and maintained by the respective hardware vendors.

  • To install the required driver, download it from the official vendor website corresponding to your device model.

  • Follow the installation instructions provided in the vendor documentation to ensure proper installation.

  • For accuracy and stability, always refer to the vendor’s support portal to obtain the correct version for your environment.

Regarding Driver-Related Vulnerabilities:

  • Vulnerabilities related to Dell, Lenovo, Intel, or other hardware drivers may appear in the saner CVEM console.

  • It is not possible to block or suppress specific vulnerabilities globally from our side, as the primary goal of a Vulnerability Management solution is to provide complete visibility into all known vulnerabilities across your assets.

  • Suppressing or hiding vulnerabilities at the platform level could create blind spots in your security posture and increase the risk of exploitation.

This approach ensures your organization maintains full awareness of potential risks and can take appropriate remediation actions.
