Creating and Managing Automation Jobs in SanerCVEM

Modified on Sun, 22 Jun at 4:15 PM

Purpose:
This article provides a comprehensive guide on how to create, schedule, and manage automation jobs using the SanerCVEM Console. Automation jobs help streamline actions such as patching, system cleanups, vulnerability remediations, configuration enforcement, and script executions across managed endpoints.

Issues:

  • Need to automate routine tasks across endpoints

  • Require scheduled patching, scanning, or custom scripts

  • Centralized control for multi-device task execution

Steps to Create and Manage Automation Jobs

Step 1: Log in to the SanerNow Console
Access https://saner.secpod.com and log in using administrative credentials.

Step 2: Navigate to Automation Jobs Module
From the top navigation menu, select Patch Management > Automation > Jobs.

Step 3: Click on ‘Create Job’

Step 4: Configure Job Details
Enter the following details:

  • Job Name: Provide a meaningful name.

  • Execution Type: Choose Immediate or Scheduled.

  • Target Devices: Select devices using filters like Group, OS, or Tags.

Step 5: Add Job Actions
Depending on your chosen module, you will define specific actions. For example:

  • For Patch Install: Select patches by severity or KB number

  • For Custom Script: Upload or paste the script content

  • For Reboot: Define user notifications or buffer period

Click Add Action after configuration.

Step 6: Define Schedule and Reboot Policy (Optional)
You may:

  • Schedule execution for later (one-time, daily, weekly)

  • Suppress or enforce reboots

  • Add user alerts before critical actions

Step 7: Review and Submit the Job
Check the job summary and confirm device scope and action accuracy.

Click Submit to queue or schedule the job.

Step 8: Monitor Automation Job Status
Navigate to Automation > Job Status to view:

  • Active and completed jobs

  • Device-wise action success/failure

  • Logs and timestamps

Click on the job name for detailed logs and status.

Additional Notes:

  • Automation jobs support both cloud and on-premise deployments.

  • Job actions can be chained for multi-step workflows.

  • Admin or security admin role is required to manage automation jobs.

  • You can cancel scheduled jobs before execution from the status tab.
