Difference Between Auto Increment and Custom Options for Allowed Subscriptions

What is the difference between the Auto Increment and Custom options for allowed subscriptions?

1. Auto Increment:

  • When the Auto Increment option is enabled for an account, the account can automatically utilize the maximum number of subscriptions assigned to the organization.

  • Example:

    • Organization: Bangalore

    • Account: SecPod

    • Total Subscriptions Assigned to Organization: 20

    • If Auto Increment is enabled for the SecPod account, whenever a new agent is installed on devices, it will automatically consume subscriptions up to the maximum available for the organization (20 in this case).

2. Custom:

  • When the Custom option is enabled, the account can only utilize a specific number of subscriptions defined for that account, regardless of the organization’s total subscriptions.

  • Example:

    • Organization: Bangalore

    • Account: Developer

    • Total Subscriptions Assigned to Organization: 20

    • If Custom is enabled with a limit of 12 for the Developer account, any new agent installed will only be able to consume up to 12 active subscriptions, even though the organization has 20.

Summary:

  • Auto Increment: Utilizes the organization’s maximum available subscriptions automatically.

  • Custom: Limits subscription usage to a specific number set for the account.
