  • Go to the Patch Management Tool: You will land on the Patch Management dashboard.

  • Click on Automation.

  • Select the desired Asset Group and Asset Family.

  • Select the assets by clicking the checkboxes. (You can select one or more assets.)

  • Click on Create Automation Rule.

The Automation Rule Creation window will appear.

  • Under Task Configuration, provide a name and description for the task.

Additionally, you can enter a pre-patching message and a post-patching message under Endpoint Notifications.

    Click Next.

  • Under Patching Options,
select the required patch severity levels and the types of patch installations.
You can also select Future Applications if you want to include upcoming applications.

  • Under Remediation Scripts,
you can choose to run a pre-remediation script and a post-remediation script.

    Click Next.

  • Under Deployment Scope,
select the required groups or select all groups as per your requirement.

Under Test Before Deployment, select the devices on which you want to test the patches before rolling them out to all other devices.

    Click Next.

  • Under Deployment Schedule,
you will have the following options:

    • After Scheduled Scan

    • Daily

    • Weekly

    • Monthly

  • Select how often the patching process should take place:

    • If you select After Scheduled Scan, patching happens every time a scan is completed.

    • If you select Daily, specify the start and end time.

    • If you select Weekly, choose the week(s), day(s), and the start/end time.

    • If you select Monthly, choose the month(s), week(s), day(s), or specific date(s) along with a start and end time.

  • Once the schedule is configured, click Create Rule.

  • This enables the automation of the rule to patch the selected assets on the selected scheduled time
